Dianthia and Mark Hoisington - President and Founder

Dianthia(President) and Mark Hoisington(Founder) are not new to the Tournament Hosting Business. In 2003 we Founded Team Sports Tournaments (Ohiobaseball.com) and have enjoyed an extremely successful 18 years as an Independent Youth Baseball Tournament Hosting Company. From our first year when we ran two events to the current day when we host 16 to 18 events a year we have established ourselves as one of top youth baseball tournament host companies in Ohio and the Midwest.

Our passion to host events came from the days when our three sons participated in Travel Baseball. We grew tired of traveling every weekend so we decided to host a couple events locally so our boys could play competitive baseball close to home. From those events to now we have gained the knowledge and understanding of what it takes to create a successful tournament atmosphere for players, coaches, and spectators to have an enjoyable weekend. Whether you win or lose we want you to say our team had a great experience, the tournament was well organized, had timely communication, and was played at quality facilities, with fair and qualified umpires.

That being said, we are taking our 18 years of tournament hosting experience from the baseball field to the softball diamond. Please join us for a weekend of softball – you will not be disappointed. We look forward to getting to know all of you.

Karen Linder - Clinic, Showcase, and Recruiting Information Director

Karen Linder, Four time MAC Coach of the Year, has created a legacy of athletic and academic excellence throughout her 33 year career as a head college softball coach. Upon retiring from the college game in 2015 she started her own company, Aspire Higher Sports that teaches both the mental and physical side of softball to younger athletes. Coach Linder currently works with USA Softball of Ohio and serves as the coordinator of the HPP program and is the coach for 12U All-American Games region 2 team. She is also on the Board of Directors for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and is an instructor at Mannino's Grand Slam in Dublin.

Coach Linder spent 19 years as the head coach at Division I Kent State University where she accumulated the second most victories of any MAC softball coach in history and the most for the Golden Flashes. Prior to Kent State, Linder was the head softball coach at Division II Ashland University for eleven seasons where she also coached basketball for eight years. Throughout her career Coach Linder has accumulated 801 career victories.

Linder attributes much of her success for her love of teaching both the mental and physical parts of the game. “My passion is to teach the game, to help young athletes understand the importance of pursuing academic and athletic excellence, and to do their best in all areas of their lives. I attribute a lot of my coaching success to the mental training strategies that I have incorporated into my coaching. I am excited to start working with younger athletes and to teach the same mental and physical strategies, techniques, and skills that allowed my college teams to be successful. I want to help kids enjoy their playing experiences.” That being said, her knowledge and experience are extremely helpful in working with high school athletes is to educate families about the college recruiting process – “I want to help kids and parents understand what it takes to be a successful college softball student athlete and to help them find a college program that will be a good fit for them academically, athletically, and socially “.

All of us at 5 Star are extremely honored that Karen has agreed to host skills camps, team camps, and showcases as well as do group instruction, mental training, and provide recruiting information seminars in and around our events. What a great opportunity to learn from a Hall of Famer !!!
